And in yet another incarnation, there is DJ Mr.Jules, who spins fine old 78rpm shellac records for your dancing pleasure. Ignoring the fact that every single record in his collection was released before he was born, good music is timeless. Using either a pair of 1940s HMV102 wind-up gramophones, or his own construction the 'snakedecks' (an electric-powered dual-deck system that plays through modern PA speakers). DJ Mr.Jules plays swing (both big band and small), jump-jive, and early rock'n'roll.
DJ Mr.Jules has the pleasure of being affiliated to The Shellac Collective, a group of likeminded 78-lovers who spin their disks all over the country, and at Bestival, Camp Bestival, and Common People festivals.
Oh- and On Facebook, too. (Of course!)
